These rods have been developed into both the Hi-'S' and Barbel Tamer ranges, offering both high-end and more affordable options!
Shaun Harrison has been actively involved in the development of these rods over the last two years and, like many of our testers, is more than demanding in ensuring that the action and performance are as good as possible.
One of the challenges is managing long casts and strong currents with the use of feeders and gripper leads of 8 ounces and above, necessary for effective bait presentation.
Because a good bite response is crucial, the rod tip must be sensitive. The way the tip reacts to the current is crucial: the rod tip must "nod" in the current to prevent the lead or feeder from moving. The required action is different from that of a carp blank, even though the test curves may be similar, so we felt it was necessary to develop rods specifically for this purpose, rather than offering "rebranded" carp rods.
When the river is high, there are obstacles and floating debris to deal with, so the rods are used with the tip raised to reduce line drag. We offer these rods in both 12' and 13' lengths to help keep the tip as high as possible.
All rods are built with the same Hi-S carbons, feature a "Perdurable" finish, and feature a Clone 1k reel seat integrated between the grade "A" cork front grip and rear grip. The guides are "S"-Lite with a black frame, available in a 40mm version for long-range fishing.
