The Free Spirit Helical Specialist Avon 12ft 2.5lb is a specialist rod designed to tackle the most challenging situations when fishing for barbel, chub and other large river fish. Designed for those fishing in fast-flowing waters, it combines considerable power reserves with an extremely sensitive Avon tip, offering the perfect balance of casting ability, fish control and bite detection.
The blank is made from a refined blend of Hankook and Toray carbons, reinforced with the signature Helical Loop Tape technology, which increases torsional rigidity without compromising lightness and responsiveness. The result is a well-balanced rod with a compact diameter that conveys great confidence during the fight.
With a 2.5 lb test curve, this version was developed to effortlessly handle grip leads up to 8 oz and large feeders, essential when fishing in fast-flowing rivers. The Avon tip still maintains high sensitivity, highlighting even the most timid bites and absorbing the pressure of the current, preventing the bait from moving along the bottom.
The construction is meticulously crafted: the classic natural cork handle ensures a comfortable grip even during long fishing sessions, while the sturdy size 17 DPS reel seat ensures a stable reel fit. The components are complemented by double- and single-leg guides with internal stone inserts, designed to reduce weight on the tip and improve line flow during casting.
