The central position variant is only compatible with the central attachment of the 3-rod pods.

The variant for lateral positions is compatible with all other 3 or 4-rod pod attachments.

So for a 3-rod pod you will need 2 fast locks for lateral positions and one for the central position, while for a 4-rod pod you will need 4 fast locks for lateral positions.
